Drawing Health with Georgia Webber

by Georgia Webber
July 18th, 2020

Learn how to apply the principles of graphic medicine to map the body through comics and envision progressive models of health with Georgia Webber. You can pick up a copy of Georgia’s book Dumb: Living Without a Voice and new collaboration Dancing After Ten from our friends at Bookshop, where proceeds will help benefit The Believer and independent bookstores.

Watch the video of the livestream below, and follow these steps to make your own body map.

For this workshop you will need paper, something to draw with, and something to color with if you’d like.

Mapping the body through comics:

Step 1: Make an outline of your body (or a body).

Step 2: Pick a place on your body and start to fill in the outline with what you’re feeling.

Step 3: Move on to the next place where you want to draw a feeling. You can be as abstract as you want, or you can draw a more representative picture.

Step 4: Look at your drawing. Which parts of the drawing feel healthy to you?

Step 5: Think about activities that make you feel healthy and good, and draw them.

We’d love to see your body map! Post it to social and tag @believermag and @gee_webber.

This workshop was supported in part by Zappos.
