Namwali Serpell is from Zambia. She is an associate professor in English at the University of California, Berkeley. She has written for Bidoun. Her story “Muzungu,” originally published in Callaloo, was included in The Best American Short Stories 2009. Her writing has appeared in McSweeney’s, The Believer, Tin House, n+1, The Caine Prize Anthologies 2010 and 2011, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Guardian, and in an essay collection called Should I Go to Grad School?. She won the Caine Prize for “The Sack” in 2015.
